Bonduelle signs agreement to procure solar energy in France

French renewable energy provider Arkolia Energies has established a long-term agreement to provide Bonduelle SA, vegetables producer, with electricity from an over 10-MW solar park in the southwestern Gironde department.

The corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) will provide the French agri-food giant with 13 GWh of green power annually. The price of the electricity is fixed and will be valid for over 20 years, Arkolia said.

The procurement will enable Bonduelle to support its goal of achieving a 20% reduction in the greenhouse gas emissions from its operations by 2035 and double the share of renewable power use by the same year.

The contract is the first one being backed by the Bpifrance’s recently launched guarantee scheme for renewable PPAs through which the French export credit agency will provide guarantees to cover the risks for industrial off-takers against electricity price fluctuations. The initiative will support 500 MW of onshore wind and solar projects in mainland France.
