Climate tech startup Unravel Carbon has selected the Snowflake Data Cloud to integrate its emissions inventory databases and decarbonisation solutions.
Headquartered in Singapore, Unravel Carbon specialises in supporting large and medium-sized companies in monitoring and reducing their carbon emissions. By utilising an AI-powered carbon decarbonisation platform, Unravel Carbon analyses accounting data to provide comprehensive insights into the carbon footprint throughout the entire supply chain. The company then recommends climate solutions to achieve net-zero emissions.
Acknowledging that Asia is responsible for 60% of global emissions, Unravel Carbon’s objective is to empower companies to efficiently and extensively measure, track, reduce, and report their carbon emissions, thus contributing to solutions for present and future generations.
Despite the urgency of addressing climate change, Unravel Carbon discovered that only 10,000 out of 400 million companies worldwide currently measure their carbon footprints. To facilitate companies in their decarbonisation efforts, Unravel Carbon sought a user-friendly and scalable platform. This approach allows businesses to minimise risk and explore growth opportunities while aligning with climate consciousness.
Unravel Carbon turned to Snowflake to unify its datasets, enabling customers to devote less time to measurement and more time to decarbonisation endeavours, ultimately achieving their sustainability targets. Traditional approaches to analysing a company’s entire production usually involve six to nine months of manual consulting work. However, with Snowflake’s Data Cloud, Unravel Carbon’s customers can swiftly report their carbon footprint, often within minutes or even seconds.
The choice of Snowflake as a partner was influenced by the company’s commitment to developing data-driven solutions that have a reduced environmental impact, aligning with Unravel Carbon’s objectives. By leveraging Snowflake’s user-friendly platform, Unravel Carbon can efficiently construct and utilise databases that identify emission hotspots while minimising carbon emissions compared to legacy solutions. Additionally, the platform allows Unravel Carbon to integrate structured and unstructured data from diverse sources, facilitating effective decarbonisation initiatives.
Since incorporating Snowflake’s solutions, Unravel Carbon has observed significant enhancements in data-driven, climate-conscious decision-making over the past three months. The company also plans to establish the world’s largest repository for every service on Snowflake, contributing to the development of a low-carbon economy.
Snowflake considers sustainability as a “Data Problem” and aims to be a leader in addressing data and business challenges for the greater good, leveraging its Data Cloud platform capabilities.
Sanjay Deshmukh, Senior Regional Vice President of ASEAN and India at Snowflake, expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Unravel Carbon, leveraging data, data analytics, and AI to help more companies in the Asia Pacific region become more sustainable.
